Install
- Open a folder in Claude Code. A new empty folder, or one you already work in. Desk keeps what is there.
- Paste this.
Set up Desks in this folder. Get version v0.1.7 of https://github.com/rivera-ernesto/desks, read its INSTALL.md and follow it. First show me the list of files you will create or change, and wait for my yes. Keep everything I already have.
- Start a new session in the same folder and type
deskfollowed by a short topic name, for exampledesk my-first-topic. - When it offers a review key, say yes. Three minutes, free, and it is what turns a second Claude into several other vendors.
What the prompt does
You are telling an AI agent to follow instructions from the internet. Be suspicious of any prompt like that, from anyone, and look first. INSTALL.md is about a hundred lines, and this is all of it:
- Downloads one fixed version of the repository to a temporary folder.
- Shows you the list of files it will create or change, and waits for your yes.
- Copies one skill folder and three worker files into
.claude/in your folder. - Adds one clearly marked block to
CLAUDE.md, or creates the file with only that block. - Creates an empty
desks/folder. - Reports which files it created or changed.
It installs no software, changes no settings, creates no account, and asks before touching any file that already exists. Nothing runs from the network afterwards: the scripts are two plain Python files in the skill folder that you can read.
Other ways
- As a plugin, in a terminal session:
/plugin marketplace add rivera-ernesto/desks, then/plugin install desk@desks. - From a downloaded copy: download the zip from GitHub, unzip it, and tell Claude where it is in place of the address.
Already have a setup?
After installing, type desk adopt. It reads your rules, agents, plugins, connected tools and folders, and proposes how to fit around them. Where your rules and Desk's disagree, yours win.
Update and remove
Update: type desk update. It shows what changed and replaces only Desk's own folder.
Remove: delete .claude/skills/desk/, the three desk-*.md files in .claude/agents/, and the marked block in CLAUDE.md. Your desks/ folder is yours.
